Advertising Club of Westchester Big W Annual Design Competition
Westchester Graphics art director Ruthann Pisano's "Westchester: An Illustration," took a "Big W" award. This original artwork was developed as the centrepiece to "What has?" – a county-wide mailer - to promote the service of United Way, Westchester County Economic Development and the county's abundant listing of fun facts, programs and services to the county resident. Reaching nearly 400,000 homes in Westchester, the broadsheet was developed under the creative direction of Ruthann Pisano, and featured a unique presentation that grabbed the reader's attention in an unexpected, illustrative style.

 

2012

Computerworld Honors Program
Westchester County was named a Laureate in this prestigious competition for the second year in a row. The program honored is the TeleCorrections Inmate Kiosk and Video Visitation System, a first-of-its-kind solution implemented by DoIT and Correction to facilitate secure virtual visitations with Westchester County jail inmates. 2011

National Map Users Conference Mashathon Competition
GIS team leader Sam Wear’s “myNewYorkviewer” ArcGIS Explorer (AGX) mash-up came in  third place in the recent 2011 National Map Users Conference Mashathon competition (http://nationalmap.gov/uc/).  Over 30 user contributed mash-ups from across the country were included in the competition with over 450 votes tallied.   Drawing from his recent IPA (Intergovernmental Personnel Act) detail with the U.S. Geological Survey in Reston, VA, the mash-up focused on the Marcellus Shale gas development in the Southern Tier region of New York state.  The mash-up included a wide range of authoritative federal, state, and local datasets and map services.  The AGX project file (.nmf) can be downloaded at  http://giswww.westchestergov.com/download/myNewYorkviewer.zip.

National Association of Counties (NACo) Achievement Awards
For REACH Westchester, an automated system developed in partnership with the Department of Social Services to allow Temporary Assistance recipients to complete their recertification interview online through an in-office kiosk or a web-based application and for Webexam: Online Civil Service Exam Application, a highly innovative system developed in partnership with the Department of Human Resources to automate and streamline the civil service exam application process from start to finish.

Outstanding IT Manager of the Year Award
Awarded by Public CIO to Kelly Odestick, Assistant CIO for Criminal Justice and Emergency Services Systems, for her leadership abilities and the tireless commitment she has displayed over the past 23 years to improving the way Westchester County does business. 


2010

NYS Forum Awards
For the WESTARM program that manages the storage of inactive public records and the Spatial Analysis for Public Health, which helps the county respond to a public health event by giving employees access to data needed in an emergency.


Best of New York Project Excellence Award (Center for Digital Government) 
For the Property Records Electronic Portal (PREP), a web-based application customers use to prepare cover pages and tax forms which accompany land records, such as deeds and mortgages, when they are presented for recording. 

Digital Government Achievement Award Honorable Mention (Center for Digital Government)
For Westchester Records Online (WRO), a web-based portal that provides easy access to all Westchester County Clerk online records.

National Association of Counties (NACo) Achievement Awards
For Optimal Routing Application (ORA) developed by GIS staff to increase the efficiency of driving routes taken by County inspectors and other operational staff and for the Property Electronic Records Portal (PREP) developed by DoIT in cooperation with the County Clerk's office to facilitate the transmission of certain records, thereby eliminating previously manual processes and saving staff time and taxpayer money.

Top 7 and Smart 21 Designation in Intelligent Community Forum’s “Intelligent Community of the Year Competition”
This global award recognizes Westchester for its use of innovation and broadband technology in support of social, cultural and economic development and for providing a “role model for the world’s best practices.”

Center for Digital Government’s Best of NY Award for “Most Innovative Use of Technology”
In recognition of Optimum Routing Application developed by DoIT GIS.


National Association of Counties (NACo) Achievement Award
For Police District Locator (PD Locator) which uses innovative mapping technology to help victims of Domestic Violence learn which local police jurisdictions are responsible for serving “Orders of Protection” to perpetrators.


William H. Kelly Award for Excellence, NYS Board of Regents and the NYS Archives

This award was presented to the department in recognition of the innovative use of technology and overall excellence in web site design and development.

US-Chinese Digital Government Conference
Selected as one of three US governments to present at the first US-Chinese Digital Government Conference in Beijing.   


Best of New York Award – IT Collaboration
 
In recognition of DoIT’s Shared Criminal Justice Data Warehouse for demonstrating best IT collaboration among organizations; sponsored by the Center for Digital Government.


National Association of Counties (NACo) Achievement Awards

  • For DoIT’s GIS Data-Sharing Program, designed to provide data free of charge to local governments in exchange for their data sets to avoid costly and unnecessary duplication;
  • For the Criminal Justice Data Warehouse, a high-tech tool which allows investigators to track down suspects quicker.  A growing number of users can now share all kinds of criminal justice data and quickly search through thousands of data entries from law enforcement agencies throughout the county.


American City & County's 2006 America's Crown Communities Award

In recognition of GIS for providing services to the public through “Mapping Westchester County” ArcIMS program designed to support the County’s efforts in emergency response and public safety, infrastructure management, transportation planning, and land information systems.

National Association of Counties (NACo) Achievement Awards

  • Awarded “Best in Category” among IT entries for the Community Health Electronic Syndromic Surveillance system (CHESS), a highly sophisticated system that collects electronic data each day from hospitals and outpatient clinics in Westchester and uses these data to track and analyze unusual levels or patterns of disease;
  • For the All-Hazards Tracking System, an innovative, web-based system that coordinates field care by tracking individuals in the event of a chemical, biological or nuclear emergency.
